Body-Mind Centering® is an integrated and embodied approach to movement, the body and consciousness. Developed by Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen, it is an experiential study based on the embodiment and application of anatomical, physiological, psychophysical and developmental principles, utilizing movement, touch, voice and mind. Its uniqueness lies in the specificity with which each of the body systems and developmental movements can be personally embodied and integrated. BMC holds a holistic view of the body, meaning that the body is a living organism where each part functions in relationship to all the other parts. Body-Mind Centering® workshop thus offers a holistic, creative, multidimensional teaching approach to learning about ourselves and our relationship with the world. Through the process of embodiment we will explore the wonders of some parts of our skeletal, organ system anatomy and developmental movements offering us a possibility to learn how to eliminate problems that constrain the actions and freeness of the body-mind and how to use the body effectively to produce high quality musical performances.
