IMMUNITY AS PROCESS
Workshop with Zrinka Šimičić, dance artist, somatic practitioner, and educator in somatic and developmental movement through the BMC® approach, and Ana Jelušić, dance artist and Feldenkrais practitioner.
Saturday, May 24, 2025, from 10:30 to 12:30, SomaHut Festival
Through the immune system, the body learns about itself — what it needs and what benefits it, and what it doesn’t need and could harm it; what it recognizes as part of itself, and what as a potential threat; where the other begins, and how clear or imagined the boundary that defines us really is.
Drawing on anatomical and physiological exploration, this workshop will embody some of the principles that can support the awareness and strengthening of the immune system. Starting from the personal experience of the body and touch, we will open some of the key questions forming the backbone of this year’s festival — questions of boundaries, identity, immunity, and the quality of space between the personal and the shared, the indivisible and the collective.
To participate in the workshops, registration is required at: somahut.mmk@gmail.com
The recommended participation fee for workshops is 10–20 euros, depending on possibilities.
This workshop is part of the SomaHut study group programme, initiated through the project INTERLACE: Art and Action in Contemporary Dance Education, co-funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ programme.
The INTERLACE project focuses on developing new approaches to contemporary dance education and provides dance educators with opportunities for learning, exchanging experiences, and sharing knowledge through collaboration and peer-to-peer learning. Particular emphasis is placed on developing inclusive methodologies for teaching creative dance when working with diverse local communities.
