Continuum Practice Workshop with dancer, choreographer and teacher Sylvain Méret
Saturday, 9 May 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. / Sunday, 10 May 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.; SomaHut Festival
Change in the State of Fluid, Movement Practice and Composition on the Path from Expressiveness to Dissolution
Inspired by the somatic practice of Continuum, this workshop will focus on awakening the fluid body. We will explore the choreography of fluid movement through wave-like motions, undulations and spirals initiated in the fascia as one of the structures of connective tissue. We will learn specific ways of breathing and sounds to deepen the sensation of our own movements. We will explore rhythmic patterns of entering into form and expressiveness, and dissolving form.
We find the gel/sol transformation of the state of fluids everywhere in nature, in a drop of water, a puddle… This primordial movement is like breathing. It reflects the constant change in everything we do, create and express. It is born and it dies. This will be our inspiration for awakening movement, expressiveness and the creation of composition in movement through time and space.
Sylvain Méret is a dancer, choreographer and Continuum teacher. He graduated from the School of Fine Arts in Bordeaux, trained in contemporary dance at the international dance school P.A.R.T.S. in Brussels, and later in dance therapy at Codarts University for the Arts. He has developed his career in France and elsewhere in Europe, especially in the Netherlands and South Korea.
